I watch you move before the mirror

Releasing all the catches and stays

The predictable moments and habitual ways.

Until the softness of the light reveals

Your moving presence and my cautious appeal.

Can I catch the light that glitters in your eyes

And hold you in my arms?

A prayer weaves its way above

As we explore

The promises of love.

But will be here without delay.

Still there will never be a time

When innocence is more sublime

And you face brighter with love.

As you wonder

Why strangers adore you

And where do they go

And fall off the edge of the world.
